The bored pile is constructed using a drilling unit consisting of the base crawler machine and the rotary table; the latter transmits a rotational motion and downward thrust to the telescopic rods, enabling the “bucket” tool to penetrate the ground.
When the bucket is loaded, extraction takes place after retrieving the rods by means of a steel rope moved by the appropriate winch.
When the bucket emerges from the hole, it is emptied of its soil content at the side of the machine by disengaging the bottom and rotating the bucket slightly.
Once the borehole depth is reached, the reinforcement cage is positioned, properly joined between sections.
Once the cage has been positioned, the concrete casting is carried out by employing a conveyor pipe and ensuring that the pipe itself is always constantly immersed in fresh concrete by at least 1–2 m (casting with the Contractor method).
The pile is then cast in its entirety, including a top section of concrete that is to be subsequently removed.
